MRS. MARY FORDYCE DIED AT ADVANCED AGE
Mrs. Mary Fordyce, widow of the late Hon. Lewis Fordyce died at her home near Libertyville Sunday. Her death was not unexpected as she had not been well for some time and had reached the advanced age of 90 years, her birthday having been celebrated last June.
The funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the home two miles west of Libertyville. Burial will be near Stockport near the old Van Buren county home of the family.
Mary Newby Fordyce was the daughter of Gabriel and Rebecca H. Newby, North Carolinians, who had settled in Indiana, where she was born. In 1846, she married Lew Fordyce in Lee county, Iowa.
Later they moved to Van Buren county and in 1873 moved to Jefferson county, settling in Des Moines township. All but one of their eight children grew to maturity, Eugene, Harry, Thornton, Oscar, Carl, Lew and Dr. Winfield Fordyce of Fairfield. Dr Oscar Fordyce met death in an automobile accident at Guthrie Center, some years ago.
