John Raymond Hemenway

John Raymond Hemenway, 42, 121 E. Main St., Birmingham, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. Hemenway was born June 6, 1961, in Fairfield, the son of Frank Charles and Mary Frances Davis Hemenway. He was raised by Ray Edger and Grace Edith Lucas.

Mr. Hemenway lived his entire life in the Fairfield area. He and his brother, Darrell owned and operated the Fairfield Hotel for many years.

Survivors include his father of Chesterton, Ind.; his mother of St. Augustine, Fla.; two sisters, Teresa Lee Cozad of Fort Worth, Texas and Elaine M. Lucas of Fairfield; and four brothers, Edward M. Denny of Loveland, Colo., Frank C. Hemenway of Phoenix, Ariz., Darrell Lucas of Birmingham, and Robert Lucas.

Mr. Hemenway was preceded in death by his grandparents; one sister, Cynthia Y. Hemenway; and one brother, David B. Lucas.
