June M. Gorman, 98, of Fairfield died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Metz officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to Parkview Care Center activity fund or First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Gorman was born June 18, 1905, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Edward Jay and Elma Watson Snider. She married Glenn Gorman Dec. 24, 1921, in Fairfield. He died May 8, 1973.

Mrs. Gorman and her parents moved to Fairfield when she was young. She attended Fairfield schools and graduated from Watson Secretarial School. After her marriage, she and her husband were dairy farmers in the Fairfield area. The historic Louden barns south of Fairfield on Highway 1 are on their former dairy farm.

Mrs. Gorman was a member of First United Methodist Church, Center Township Homemakers, Cross Lanes Club and Hickory Ridge Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Helen Leathers of Fairfield; two granddaughters, Linda Wahl of Fairfield and Barbara McCleary of Lake Ozark, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, James Wahl of Columbia, Mo., Stacie Hootman of Orlando, Fla., Jesse Fry of Kansas City, Mo., Cassie Fry of Springfield, Mo., Lindsay Steen of Columbia, Mo.; five great-great-grandchildren, Christian, Nicholas and Alexandra June Wahl, all of Columbia, Alicia Hootman of Orlando, and Dominic Steen of Columbia.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Gorman; her parents; one brother, Jay Snider; and two sisters, Helen Dunbar and Alta Lewis.
