Services for F. Ben PETERS, 91, former Jefferson County auditor, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Behner Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Kincaid will officiate and burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
Masonic rites will be conducted at the funeral home at 7 p.m. this evening followed by visitation. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
PETERS, whose home address was 605 S. Fourth, died at 8:50 a.m. Monday at the Nelson Nursing Home.
F. Ben PETERS was born Sept. 21, 1892, at Abingdon. He was the son of James R. and Mary Sarah BLACK PETERS. He married Ethel E. DAVIS Jan. 23, 1916, In Fairfield. She died June 11, 1951.
Two sons survive; they are Seth PETERS, Fairfield, and Leonard PETERS, Brighton. He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
PETERS was a lifetime resident of Jefferson County. He farmed in the Abingdon community before he moved to Woolson where he owned a Poultry and grocery business.
He moved to Fairfield in 1942 while he was employed by the state. He served as Jefferson County auditor for 13 years before his retirement.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and Masonic Lodge 198 in Batavia.
