ABINGDON -- Mrs. Ethel SMITH, 74, died Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa.

She was born November 23, 1892 in Henry Co., Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Lou ANDERSON SIMONTON. She married Orville SMITH on March 16, 1916. They had lived all their life in the Abingdon community.

She was a member of the Dorcas Society.

Survivors include her widower; two daughters, Mrs. William BLAKELEY of Bettendorf and Mrs. William STEEN of Des Moines; two grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Myrtle Dickey of Fairfield.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Abingdon Christian Church, the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. The casket will be taken from Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon to the church at noon Tuesday.
