Death Takes John SALTS

BATAVIA --- John R. SALTS, 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, following several weeks of failing health.

He was born May 16, 1880, in Jefferson County, the son of Samuel and Rhoda FISHER SALTS, and has been a resident of Batavia for 56 years.

On August 27, 1914, he was married to Wiynonnia SCHOOLEY RAMEY, who preceded him in death April 21, 1962.

He was a 62-year member of Clinton Masonic Lodge 15, AM---FM, and also belonged to the Brookville Christian Church.
Surviving are four sons; Paul SALTS, Davenport; Harold SALTS, Anamosa; Ray RAMEY, Ottumwa; and Ona RAMEY, Freeport, Ill.; and one daughter, Mrs. Loren STERNER, Agency. He is also survived by three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one nephew.

He was preceded his death also by one brother, Gay (sic - Guy) Salts.

Services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia, with Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.

Masonic services will be held tonight at 7:30 at the Campbell Funeral Chapel.
