William "Bill" NORDYKE

William "Bill" NORDYKE, 66, of Abingdon, died Thursday April 2, 1992, at his home.

He was born Sept. 30, 1925, at rural Batavia, the son of Carl E. and Maude Smith NORDYKE. He married Edith BOESE July 2, 1950, at Abingdon.

NORDYKE was a veteran of World War II. He lived his entire life in Jefferson County. He was a farmer and worked at Chain and Cable in Fairfield.

Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Carolyn SIMMONS of Fairfield, Cathy ROTH of Boulder, Colo., Rosemary JACKS of Waverly, and Susan ULM of Batavia; four brothers, Delbert and Ronald of Abingdon, David of Agency and Richard of Farmington; four sisters, Grace SMITH of Agency, Mary DAY of Penna and Madeline PERKINS and Helen JOHNSON of Seattle; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Robert, Kenneth, and Walter.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Abingdon Church, Keevin Koch officiating. Interment will be in Abingdon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Memorials to the American Cancer Fund or the family may be left at the funeral home.
