C. NORDYKE Dies At 75

ABINGDON -- Carl Ellis NORDYKE, 75, retired Jefferson county farmer, died at 5:03 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been admitted early Sunday morning.

Services will be Thursday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at the Abingdon Church of Christ with Greg Myer officiating. Interment will be in Abingdon Cemetery with the Raymond Funeral Home at Fairfield in charge.

Members of the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carl Ellis NORDYKE was born Nov. 8, 1901, in Brighton. He was the son of William and Korilla HAGAN NORDYKE. He was reared and educated in Washington and Jefferson Counties, and was a member of the Open Bible Mission.

He was married Feb. 26, 1922, in Abingdon to Maude Smith who survives.

In addition to his widow, NORDYKE is survived by six sons, Robert, Ottumwa; William, Abingdon; David, Agency; Richard, Bonaparte; Ronald, Abingdon; and Delbert, also Abingdon; four daughters, Madyline PERKINS and Helen JOHNSON, both of Seattle, Wash.; Grace SMITH, Agency; and Mary DAY, Abingdon.

Other survivors include 28 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester NORDYKE, Florida; and two sisters, Eula COOK, Keosauqua, and Gladys HOOVER, Washington.

He was preceded in death by two sons.
