Ruth Lucille MYERS

Ruth Lucille MYERS, 86, of North Kansas City, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie.

Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10 a.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Packwood Community Building, 407 E. Fourth St., Packwood, 52580.

Mrs. MYERS was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Packwood. She married W. H. “Skinner” MYERS of Packwood. He died in 1971.

Mrs. MYERS lived most of her life in the Packwood area. She was a bus driver for Pekin School District from 1959-1971. She then was a residence hall manager at Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman State University, in Kirksville, Mo., until 1982. She moved to North Kansas City upon retirement to be near her family. Her pastimes included traveling, playing cards, and she was a sports fan.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Packwood, serving as chairwoman of the administrative board and a trustee and was a life member of United Methodist Women. She was past worthy matron of the Richland chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, was involved with Little League baseball boosters, providing transportation, signs and food for the concessions stand and was chairwoman of Packwood school district PTA.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Susie MYERS; one son, Charles MYERS and wife Kay Lynne of North Kansas City; and two grandsons.
