E. E. MYERS passed away at hospital here Monday afternoon---------------
Emmett E. MYERS, life-long resident of Jefferson county, passed away at the Jefferson county hospital Monday at 3:00 p.m. He suffered a stroke last Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ina SIMMONS, Fairfield, and never recovered.
Funeral services will be held in Abingdon Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. John Leih, pastor of the Nazarene church here in Fairfield. Burial will be in Abingdon cemetery.
Mr. MYERS was born in Jefferson county May 10, 1878. He lived in this community all his life, the most of which was engaged in farming. Recently he had made his home here in Fairfield with his daughter.
He is survived by the following children: Charles E. MYERS, route 1, Fairfield; Emery R. MYERS, Mrs. Ina SIMMONS, both of Fairfield; and Roy M. MYERS, Ottumwa. One sister Mary Jane SCOTT, Denver; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
His wife passed away December 22, 1930. Three grandchildren also preceded him in death.
The body will be taken from the Hoskins funeral home to the church in Abingdon at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
