Mildred MYERS

Mildred Mae MYERS, 85, of Waldon Place Retirement Center in Iowa City, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 1993, at her home.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gales officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery at Abingdon. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family request memorial to the Johnson County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. MYERS was born Jan. 12, 1908, at Abingdon in Jefferson County, the daughter of Robert Rex and Vera CALDWELL WILSON. She graduated from Packwood High School, attended Parsons College, Iowa State Teachers College and the University of Iowa. She lived in Jefferson county until moving to Iowa City on Jan. 28, 1992. On Oct. 31, 1926, she married Clyde Arista MYERS in Fairfield. She was a school teacher in Jefferson and Keokuk counties for 28 years, was a member of Jefferson County Teachers Association, Fairfield Women's Club, Sew and So Club, Order of Eastern Star, Eastern Star Club, White Shrine and Keep Young Club. She was a member of Packwood Christian Church before transferring her membership to First Christian Church in Fairfield.

Surviving are a son, L. Merle MYERS of Iowa City; two daughters, Marvalene HENDRICKSON of Iowa City, Marilyn MERCER of Salisbury, Md.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
