John D. HUFFMAN

BATAVIA ---- John D. HUFFMAN, 71, of rural Batavia, died at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 1990, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Family visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Packwood First Responders.

HUFFMAN was born Sept. 25, 1919, in Davis County, the son of John and Mabel MOORE HUFFMAN. He married Martha P. DOROTHY Oct. 17, 1939, in Memphis, Mo. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, he was a forklift operator for 14 years for Dexter Company in Fairfield before his retirement.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Roger of Utica, Ill, Donnie of Batavia; four daughters, Janet SCHMIDTZ of Ralston, Neb., Sharon BOETTCHER of Moulton, Colleen RUGGLES of Packwood, Virginia BUCKLER of Baxter; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma SMITH of Libertyville. Dorothy McCLEARY, Wilda FERREL, both of Fairfield and a brother Keith of Ottumwa. His parents and a brother, Hollis, preceded him in death.
