FORMER FAIRFIELD MAN DIES IN CHICAGO

Word has been received here of the death of John R. SNIDER (sic. John D. SNYDER) of Chicago, Ill., who was a former resident of Jefferson county. Mr. SNIDER's (sic.) death occurred May 14th and was due to heart failure.

Mr. SNIDER (sic.) is survived by his wife (sic. Harriett GURWELL SNYDER) and one daughter (sic. daughter not named; also one son, Arthur M. SNYDER). He was an old soldier, being a member of the U.S. Grant Post No. 28, G.A.R., of Chicago.

The funeral will be held in Chicago some time Monday morning and the body brought here for burial, arriving here at 4:15 Monday afternoon.

The family desires G.A.R. services at the grave which will be in charge of George Strong Post of this city. The old soldiers will meet the train and proceed to the cemetery.

Note: The newspaper obituaries for this family varied with the use of the surname, sometimes within the same obituary. It is believed that the correct surname spelling should be "SNYDER".

Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. 2nd.082. The graves of John, his wife Harriett, and son Arthur who are buried in this same plot are not marked with headstones.
