Gladys DeGOOD

Services for Gladys E. DeGOOD, 85, 701 S. Fourth, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Behner Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Kincaid will officiate and burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizen Site.

Mrs. DeGOOD died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson County Hospital where she had been a patient four days.

She had lived in the Fairfield Community for 41 years, moving to Fairfield from Batavia. She was a retired school teacher who had taught in Jefferson County schools for 23 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Gladys E. DeGOOD was born Oct. 13, 1898, in Kirksville. She was the daughter of Delmar and Myrtle SHAW FOSTER. Her marriage to Lovel D. DeGOOD took place June 1, 1918, in Fairfield. Her husband died June 11, 1971.

Five sons and three daughters survive: Harold DeGOOD, Kansas City, Mo.; Harlan DeGOOD, San Diego, Calif.; Hal DeGOOD, Des Moines; Hoyt DeGOOD, Virginia Beach, Va.; Hollis DeGOOD, Ottumwa; Dorothy L. COUCH, Seattle, Wash.; Donna J. BROWN, Des Moines; and Deanna E. BRAZINE, Marion.

Other survivors include 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy BEAUCHAMP, Winfield, and Mrs. Ralph H. JAIN, Colby, Kans.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.
