Death Takes Mrs. DAVIS

BATAVIA --- Daisie M. DAVIS, 74, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa. She had been in failing health for several years.

The service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m., at Abingdon Church of Christ, with the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Interment will be in Abingdon Cemetery. The Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Elmer and Ethel LONGERBONE DAVIS, she was born Feb. 20, 1903 in Jefferson County. She spent most of her life in the Abingdon community. She has worked as a cook at the county home and at Sunnyslope Care Center. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She was married to Orval BOWEN on Dec. 25, 1921. He died in 1954. She was married to Ralph DAVIS on Sept. 2, 1956, he died in 1971.

She is survived by three daughters, Zelpha Belle LEVERONE, Miami, Fla., Phyllis HANKINS of Florida, Willa Lee RYSDAM, Ottumwa; one son, Dale BOWEN, Columbus Junction; nine stepchildren, 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Melvin DAVIS, Abingdon. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Transcribed for genealogy purposes, Daisie was my 2nd cousin.
