ELMER DAVIS, 73, FARSON, DIES TODAY

Life long resident of Wapello county dies at University Hospital

Elmer DAVIS, 73, widely-known farmer from the Farson community, passed away this morning at 8 o'clock at the University Hospital in Iowa City. Mr. Davis had been in poor health for the past year, and seriously ill for the past month.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed as yet. The body was taken to Campbell Funeral Home in Batavia.

Mr. DAVIS was born near Farson and has been engaged in farming throughout his lifetime, both in the Farson and Abingdon neighborhoods. He was a member of the Abingdon Christian church.

Surviving are three sons, Cleo and Martin of Eldon and Melvin of Farson; one daughter, Mrs. Orville BOWEN of Agency; one brother, Thomas DAVIS of Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Charles PETERS of Fairfield; one half-brother, Roy HAWTHORNE of Hedrick. He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1909 (sic - 1908), by his second wife in 1930 and by one sister and one brother.

Transcribed for genealogy purposes, Elmer was my great-uncle.

[Admin. note: Burial was made in Abingdon Cemetery. His first wife was Ethel LONGERBONE, his second Rose THOMPSON. He is buried with Ethel.]
