Funeral for Melvin DAVIS is Thursday

ABINGDON --- Melvin K. DAVIS, 81, died at 5:45 Monday at Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Abingdon Church of Christ with the Rev. Kevin Kock officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Chapel, Batavia. Memorials have been established to DAVIS' church and to the Heart Fund.

Davis was born March 12, 1905 in Jefferson County, the son of Elmer and Ethel LONGERBONE DAVIS, and lived most of his life in Jefferson County. He was a member of the Abingdon Church of Christ. He had farmed and was a former employee of Dexter Company in Fairfield. He married Gertrude BAKER March 12, 1928. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda LORENZ of Fridley, Minn., Karen SEA of Ottumwa, and three grandchildren.
