Heart Attack Fatal to DAVIS

BATAVIA, Ia. -- Arno Dail DAVIS, 51, died suddenly with a heart attack at his home near Batavia Wednesday afternoon. His death was unexpected although he had been ill for seven months.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Kermit Black in charge. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.

He was born in Jefferson County, June 16, 1914, the son of Riley E. DAVIS and Mary Lillian RAMEY DAVIS. He spent most of his life in this county where he worked as a carpenter and farmer in and around Abingdon.

He was married Nov. 5, 1955 in Princeton, Mo., to Florence FUNK DAVIS, who survives.

Also surviving are five step-children, Mrs. Charlotte PRATT, Mrs. Jacqueline EAKINS and Larry DAVIS of Batavia, Jerry DAVIS of Fairfield and James DAVIS of the U.S. Navy, 16 grandchildren, and three brothers, Willis DAVIS of Hillsboro, Bruce (sic - Burcie) DAVIS of Irvington and Orville DAVIS of Nottinghill, Mo., two sisters, Mrs. Lela STEPHENS and Mrs. Lucille DeGOOD of Batavia. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
