ABINGDON --- Alvie B. DAVIS, 70, Batavia rout 2, died Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital after a serious illness of seven weeks.
A retired farmer, DAVIS spent his entire life in the Abingdon area. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Abingdon Church of Christ with Lafe Culver of Ottumwa officiating. Military rites will follow in Abingdon Cemetery.
The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.
DAVIS was born Nov. 1, 1888 at Abingdon, the son of William and Lucinda McKINNEY DAVIS. He was married to Nora CLINE Nov. 6, 1920. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Elsie ARMSTRONG, Fairfield. Six brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
