Elsie M. ARMSTRONG

Elsie M. ARMSTRONG, 77, of 1009 S. Fourth St., died at 4:27 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the Jefferson County Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Abingdon Cemetery in Abingdon, with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. Following her request the casket will be closed.

No family visitation is planned. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Lions Eye Bank or the VFW Avenue of Flags.

Mrs. Armstrong was born Oct. 21, 1924, near Abingdon, the daughter of Alvie B. and Nora E. CLINE DAVIS. She married Clement W. ARMSTRONG Sept. 26, 1948 in Fairfield. He died Sept. 27, 1987.

She lived most of her life in Jefferson County. She graduated from Fairfield High School with the class of 1941. She and her husband owned and operated Armstrong's Grocery Store in Fairfield. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
