John BAKER, 84, Taken In Death

John BAKER, 84, 903 W. Stone, died Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. at the Ottumwa Hospital following a lingering illness.

A retired painter, BAKER made his home in the Abingdon area for many years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Abingdon Church of Christ. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.

BAKER was born at Abingdon Nov. 6, 1882, the son of William and Lydia DAVIS BAKER. He was married to Mary HUPP in 1903. She preceded her husband in death Nov. 29, 1951.

Baker is survived by three sons, Raymond BAKER, Cedar Rapids; Harry BAKER, San Francisco, Calif.; and John BAKER, Fairfield. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Six brothers and three sisters are deceased.
