DEATH CLAIMS FRED. C. BAKER

Fred C. BAKER, longtime resident of Fairfield and former resident of Abingdon, passed away about 5:00 a.m. this morning near Libertyville. He had been in failing health for 35 years.

Last rites will be Sunday at the Christian Church of Crist in Abingdon at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Abingdon cemetery. The body is a Hoskins funeral home.

Fred C. BAKER, 78, was born October 31, 1872, in Colorado, the son of the late William and Lydia DAVIS BAKER. He came to Iowa when quite young and had made his home in this county since.

He was united in marriage on November 21, 1900, to Maude HUPP, who survives. The wedding took place in Fairfield. BAKER was a member of the Christian Church of Christ in Abingdon and was a machinist by trade until his health failed him 35 years ago.

Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Grace PETERSON, Tooelle, Utah; Isaac W. BAKER, Abingdon; Mrs. Olga Gertrude DAVIS, Abingdon; Mrs. Olive Ruth WHITE, Farson; Mrs. Susie LENTZ, New London.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Basil BAKER, Birmingham; John BAKER, Abingdon, Blaine BAKER, Abingdon and Mrs. Susie MYER who resides in Colorado.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Clyde, who passed away when he was two years old, three brothers and one sister.
