Max Wayne ROTH

Max Wayne ROTH, 82, died from a progressive heart condition Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, in Orange County, Calif.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Waco High School football program or Special Olympics of Iowa.

Mr. ROTH was born Jan. 24, 1929, at home near Olds, the son of Clarence "Bud" and Mabel MEYER ROTH. He married Berniece GRABER May 16, 1948, in Wayland.

Mr. ROTH spent most of his life in and around Wayland. The ROTHs moved to California in 2007 to be closer to family. Mr. ROTH enjoyed his lifelong farming and livestock operations.

He also enjoyed being with family and friends, meeting and conversing with people regardless of the circumstances, attending his sons' and grandchildren's athletic or other events, traveling to places, such as China, India, Africa, Europe and the Holy Land, and volunteering with charitable organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and Heifer International.

Mr. ROTH belonged to Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Duane and wife Renee, Theodore and wife Jeanne, Gordon and wife Tami, Byron and wife Susan and Courtney and wife Kendee; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Evelyn of Wayland; and one brother, Wilbur of Denver, Colo.

Max Wayne ROTH, 82, died from a progressive heart condition Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, in Orange County, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Russell.
