Remona MORGAN, 78, of Newton, died today, Friday, April 15, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Newton. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 3-5 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. Second Ave., Newton.
Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church, Hospice of Jasper County, or Newton Community Concert Association.
Mrs. MORGAN was born April 12, 1927, in Libertyville, the daughter of Elmer and Irma PEEBLER COPELAND. She married Buron (sic - Byron) Dwight MORGAN July 9, 1950, in Fairfield.
She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1945. She received her bachelor of arts degree in music from Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) in 1949.
She was a teacher from 1949 to 1953. She worked in Morgan Jewelers in 1954.
Mrs. MORGAN was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jasper County Concert Association and Newton Community Theatre. Her interests were bridge club, church circle, reading, traveling, snorkeling and singing in the church choir for 42 years.
Survivors include her husband of Newton; on son, Tim MORGAN and wife Sandy of Newton; one daughter, Suanne ROLADER and husband Art of Mansfield, Texas; one sister, Wanda SHORT of Kahoka, Mo.; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law.
