Harry A. SMITH, 83, former Fairfield resident, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at a private nursing home in Casa Grande, Ariz.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Behner Funeral Home. The Rev. David Kennedy will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will start at noon Friday at the funeral home.
SMITH had worked for the Universal producing Co. for 20 years and later was employed as a carpenter at the Fairfield Lumber Co. before moving to the Mesa, Ariz. area in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and First Christian Church.
Harry A. SMITH was born Aug. 1, 1899, in Pleasant Township, Wapello County. He was the son of Alexander B. and Margaret BURNAUGH SMITH.
He was married April 6, 1927, to Vera F. RILEY in Ottumwa. She died Aug. 27, 1972.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters; Duane, Arizona City, Ariz.; Ellis, Yap, Western Caroline Island; Betty HOOTMAN, Rosemead, Calif.; and Rhonda JUHLIN, Coralville.
Ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by one son.
