J. SIMPSON Rites Set

James J. "Tip" SIMPSON, 61, well-known Dexter foreman, died Saturday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m. of a heart attack. He was transported by ambulance from his home, 505 North B, to the Jefferson County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Born June 23, 1914, at Hocking, Iowa, he was the son of John J. and Mary Ann BURDOCK SIMPSON. On December 16, 1936 (sic - 1939), he was married to Thelma LYON.

He had worked for the Dexter Company for over 34 years. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Walton Club and the Eagles. He saw service in WWII.

Survivors include his wife; three sons: James Jr., and Thomas, Fairfield, Larry Joe, U.S. Army, Germany; one daughter, Pam, at home; his mother, Mrs. Mary Ann SIMPSON, Hitesman, Iowa; one grandchild.

Also surviving are three brothers: Ralph, Knoxville; Charles, Ottumwa; Edwin, Albia; one sister, Margaret EILBECK, Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. J. E. Dorman officiating. Burial with military honors by the VFW will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
