Illness Fatal To Harley HOLMES

Harley L. HOLMES, 57, lifelong resident of Fairfield, died Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Jefferson County hospital where he had been a patient for three days.

HOLMES resided at 10 N, Sixth St. He had been seriously ill for a week.

Last rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of Dr. J. Henry Teele. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

HOLMES had been groundskeeper at Walton club for ten years. He was a former member of the city police force. He was a member of the First Methodist church, the Knights of Pythias Lodge at Douds, and the Degree of Honor.

HOLMES was born April 7, 1900 in Jefferson county, the son of Frank and Carrie HUPP HOLMES. He was married to Eva WILSON April 7, 1923.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Leonard W. HOLMES, Pasadena, Calif., and his father, Frank HOLMES, Richland. Two grandchildren, and the following sister and brothers also survive: Mrs. Hazel JACKSON, Moline, Ill., Paul HOLMES and Warnie HOLMES, Fairfield; and Ray HOLMES, Richland.

His mother, one brother and one sister are deceased.

Buried Evergreen Cemetery, 3rd.82
