Elsa Belle CRAWFORD, 85, 1000 Grand Park Drive, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 1992, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association.
Mrs. Crawford was born Oct. 2, 1906, in Des Moines Township, Jefferson County, the daughter of J. C. and Anna MALLAMS FERREL. She married Anthony W. CRAWFORD on Dec. 18, 1925, in Ottumwa. A lifelong Jefferson County resident, she had been employed as a nurse's aide, worked at Parsons College and the Fairfield Community School System. She was a Member of Mount Zion Methodist Church, and Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary, both in Ottumwa.
Surviving are; a son, Delbert of Birmingham; two daughters, Dixie DESEN, Donna SMOTHERS, both of Aurora, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Elaine BONNETT of Fairfield and Erma STUMP of Loveland, Colo. Two sons, Dale and Dean; a grandson; three sisters, Esther, Emily, Evelyn and six brothers, Jim, Wilbur, Frank, Floyd, Lloyd and Ivyl, preceded her in death.Buried Evergreen Cemetery, 4th.053
