Verne CAUGHLAN Taken In Death

Willis Verne CAUGHLAN, retired electrician and longtime resident of Fairfield, died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson County Hospital. He had been in failing health the past two years and serious the past two weeks.

Last rites have been set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Ned Gillum in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Willis Verne CAUGHLAN was born Oct. 30, 1892, in Ottumwa, the son of Willis and Emma FREEZER CAUGHLAN. He was reared and educated in Ottumwa.

He was married in August, 1915 to Leona Grace KOONS who passed away June 4, 1944. Later he was married to Marie BURKE in Fairfield, who survives.

A member of the Christian Church, he had worked as an electrician in and around Fairfield for the past 45 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by six sons: Donald, Waverly, Ohio; Dick, Richland; Jack, Kansas City, Mo.; Charles, San Antonio, Texas; David, Chicago; and Thomas, at home; also one daughter, Mrs. Earl UMSTED, St. Charles, Mo. Twenty grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter.

Monday Rites For CAUGHLAN

Last rites for Willis Vern CAUGHLAN, 77, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

CAUGHLAN, a retired Fairfield electrician, died Thursday at the Jefferson County Hospital.

He is survived by his widow, the former Grace Marie BURKE; six sons and one daughter. Twenty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two sons.

Buried Evergreen Cemetery, Lot 3rd.186½
