WHITMORE service

Harvey R. WHITMORE, 81, 603 W. Monroe, died at 4 p.m. Monday at Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gospel Lighthouse Church in Batavia with the Rev. Dick Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia. A memorial has been established to Mr. WHITMORE's church.

WHITMORE was born Jan, 19, 1902, in Jefferson County, the son of Albert and Sarah HARRISON WHITMORE. He spent his entire life in Jefferson County where he had lived and farmed east of Batavia. He retired from Dexter in 1966 and had lived in Fairfield the last 10 years. He married Ivy Grace McCLEARY Jan. 30, 1926, she died Nov. 3, 1965. On May 31, 1969, he married Florence DAVIS, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Juanita SHIPLER of Batavia, Mary RUGGLES of Packwood; two sons, Ralph of Chino, Calif., C. John of Albuquerque, N. M.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Jackie EAKINS of Batavia; two stepsons, Jerry DAVIS of Fairfield, Larry DAVIS of Batavia; 14 step-grandchildren and 14-step-great-grandchildren.

He was a charter member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Batavia, where he was an elder, treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
