LOCKRIDGE -- The service for Keith E. McFARLAND, 66, rural Lockridge, who died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1989, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Lester Smith officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Heart Fund, Lung Association and the Cancer Fund.

McFARLAND was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Fairfield, the son of Frank L. and Lauretta Joy EDWARDS McFARLAND. He was reared and educated in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and worked at the Barker Company in Keosauqua after the war. He joined the Army during the Korean War, serving in the 1st Cavalry Armored Division. He was stationed in Germany and Japan during his military service.

He married Mildred R. DOUTHART Jan. 16, 1946, at the Methodist church in Fairfield. She died Dec. 27, 1978. He married Dorothy BOLEY DAVIS Sept. 2, 1979, at the Methodist church in Keosauqua. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, VFW, American Legion and DAV. He lived in Bonaparte and moved to West Branch, where he lived while a custodian at University of Iowa. He also was a custodian for Hoover Park in West Branch. He moved to his farm near Lockridge after retiring in 1975.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Gary of Fairfield; a brother, Warren "Bud" of Kirksville, Mo.; several nieces and nephews. A sister, Lucille FRAY, preceded him in death.
