N. Dale SMITH service Monday

N. Dale SMITH, 90, 905 S. Fourth St., died Saturday, Oct. 7, 1989, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Bonifacio Mequi officiating. Burial will be in the Pittsburg Cemetery near Keosauqua. Family visitation is 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church and American Heart Association.

SMITH was born Oct. 18, 1898, in Gorin, Mo., the son of Walter and Bertie TROTER SMITH. He married Jessie GROVES Oct. 18, 1922, at the Christian Church parsonage in Fairfield. He lived in Fairfield for 30 years with his previous residence in Keosauqua.

He worked for 20 years for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Keosauqua Masonic Lodge No. 10.

Suvivors include his wife; two sons, Wayne E. of Fairfield and James P. of Burlington; seven grandchildren; one brother Francis of San Diego; and four sisters, Marie POWER of Keokuk, Augusta RUSSELL of Gorin, Una THURLO of Bosworth, Mo., and Geneva ROWE of Mount Pleasant.
