Andrew G. GROVE died at his home six miles southeast of this city Monday morning, after a year's illness. No date has been positively fixed for the funeral, because the time of arrival of a son from Colorado is not known, but it will probably be held tomorrow afternoon. Mr. GROVE was a native of Sweden and was seventy-two years of age. He was married to Christina HEDBURG in his native country, and the wife survives him. They were the parents of eleven children, ten of whom are living--E. G. , C. J., Elmer, Ray, Joseph, Anna and Esther in this community, William at Stockport, Mrs. Hannah DAVIS at Canon City, Col., and Axel at Crawford, Col. All will be here for the funeral except Mrs. DAVIS. Mr. GROVE came to the United States in 1870 and has been a resident of this county since that time. He was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church and he carried his religion into his daily life. He was honest, industrious, thrifty and prosperous. Those who knew him in his life in this county held him in high respect, for he was both a good man and a valuable citizen. The sympathy of the community will go out to the family in the loss of husband and father.

The subject of this sketch was born in Falskopeng, Sweden, September 20, 1836. He came to America in the year 1870 and purchased a farm soon after at Glasgow, Jefferson county, Iowa, where he lived until 1884, at which time he purchased the John McCormick farm, six miles east of Fairfield. Here he remained until his death, which occurred Monday, June 8, 1908, after an illness of fifteen months. During the productive period of his life he was an industrious, energetic farmer. He was extremely careful and upright in his dealings with his fellowmen. His even temper and cheerful disposition added much to the happiness of his family and friends. He was christened in the Lutheran church when a boy, in which faith he was a firm believer until death. He carried his religion into his daily life. Those who knew him held him in high esteem, for he was both a good and valuable citizen.
He was married to Christina HICHBURG (sic - HEDBURG) December 26, 1860, to which union eleven children were born. They are: William, of Stockport, Iowa; Dr. A. F., Crawford, Colo.; Mrs. Hanna DAVIS, Canon City, Col.; Chas. T., Dr. E. G. ,Elmer B., Anna E., Ray O. J. O., and Esther, all of Jefferson county, and Mrs. Olive TRAMNER, who preceded the father two years ago, leaving a family of five little ones, who the grandparents gladly and lovingly cared for.
The funeral services were held at the home on Friday morning, June 12, 1908, conducted by the Rev. Thornberg, of Four Corners.
The sons as pall bearers, with loving hands laid their father to rest in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery of this city.
