WILLIAM GROVE DIED SUDDENLY

Funeral Services Sunday Afternoon at Murray Funeral Home

William GROVE, six miles east of this city, died early this morning at the home of his brother-in-law John PIERSON, near Glasgow.

Mr. GROVE had gone to the PIERSON home last Sunday to spend a few days. When they went to call him for breakfast he was found dead in bed. Dr. Bishop was called and pronounced death due to a heart attack. Although he was apparently in good health, he had suffered a few light heart attacks during the past year.

Mr. GROVE was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter. There remains to mourn his passing the following children: Emma Gertrude of Chicago, Mrs. William RHYMAS Lillian and Ralph of Fairfield. Also one grandchild Dorothy Eileen RHYNAS, and the following brothers and sisters: Dr. E. G. GROVE of Boone, Ia., Mrs. L. E. BRESLEY of Colome South Dakota Mrs. Hanns DORIS (sic - Hannah DAVIS) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Elmer, Axel and Ray of this city.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Murray Funeral Home in charge of Dr. W. F. Rex pastor of the Lutheran church. Interment in Evergreen cemetery.

WILLIAM GROVE

William GROVE, eldest son of Andrew Gustave and Mary Christina GROVE, was born in Falkoping, Sweden, the 28th day of October, 1861 and died at the home of John PIERSON near Glasgow, Iowa, the 16th day of February, 1933 at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 19 days.

At the age of eight years he came to this country with his parents and settled on a farm south of Lockridge, and here his entire boyhood was spent.

At an early age he was confirmed in the Lutheran church, and remained a devoted Christian during his entire life.

On the 19th day of March, 1890 he was united in marriage to Esther Ellen PIERSON and to this union were born five children. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Olive, June 20, 1917, and by his wife, July 31, 1931. There remain to mourn his passing the following children: Emma Gertrude of Chicago; Lillian M., Mrs. Edith RHYNAS and Ralph William of Fairfield, and one grandchild, Dorothy Eileen RHYNAS. Also the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Hannah DAVIS of Colorado Springs, Col., Mrs. Esther BREESLEY (sic - BRESLEY) of Colome, South Dakota, Dr. E. G. GROVE of Boone, Ia., and Alex Ray (sic - Alex, Ray) and Elmer of Fairfield.

In 1896 he moved to a farm near Stockport where he spent the greater part of his life and where he was an active worker in the community and in the Friends' church at that place. In 1929 he moved to a farm six miles east of Fairfield, which was his home at the time of his death.

He was a kind and loving father and will be greatly missed in the home and by all who knew him.

RKT note: William GROVE was born Oct. 28, 1861 and died Feb. 16, 1933. He was the husband of the late Esther Ellen PIERSON GROVE (1869-1931). Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. 2nd.003. The daughter mentioned in the obituary as preceding William in death was Ruth Olive GROVE, (1893-1917). She is also buried in this plot. A grandchild of William and Esther Ellen was Pamela Sue GROVE (daughter of the son, Ralph) and she was born and died in 1946 and is also buried in this GROVE family plot.
