RUBY rites Thursday

John K. RUBY, 71, native of Stockport and a former Fairfield businessman, died at 7:35 p.m. Sunday (sic - Dec. 31, 1978) at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

He operated Ruby Plumbing and Heating firm in Fairfield for a number of years. He later moved to Memphis, Mo., where he was in business for some time before moving to Route 4, Iowa City.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

John K. RUBY was born Sept. 4, 1907, at Stockport, the son of Frank and Jessie CHEZUM RUBY.

He was married May 3, 1927, to Alma (sic - Elma) MILLER who survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Constance RIDENOUR, Iowa City; four sons, Leland, Iowa City; John, Cordova, Ill.; James, Seward, Neb.; and Donald, Iowa City; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by four sisters, Myrtle DOYLE, Fairfield; Esther STOOPS, Fairfield; Wilda BRADFORD, Stockport; Margaret JOHNSON, Peoria, Ill; three brothers, Paul, Ottumwa; Harold, Billings, Mont.; Dale RUBY, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by one daughter.

Buried Evergreen Cemetery, 4th.246
