Monday, 5 November 1973Last Rites On Tuesday
Mrs. Escoe MESSER, 70, 1200 S. Seventh St., died Sunday at 4:45 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital. She had been in failing health for two years.
Last rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. George Koch and the Rev. Carlton Easley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. MESSER, the former Juanita BAILEY, was a lifetime resident of Fairfield. She was born April 23, 1903, the daughter of William and Ada HOUGH BAILEY. She was married to Esco E. MESSER Feb. 19, 1944.
Mrs. Messer is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Vivian HYND of Fairfield and Mrs. Catherine WOODSON of Mount Pleasant; three step-sons, Melvin, Raymond and Virgil MESSER, all of Des Moines; and two step-daughters, Mrs. Mary EARL and Mrs. Minnie TURNER, Washington.
Also surviving are 26 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and the following sisters, Mrs. Harvey NICHOLS Waterloo; Mrs. Alberta HOWARD and Mrs. Harold HARRISON, both of Fairfield; Mrs. Perry COUCH, Ashland, Neb.; and Mrs. J. R. JONES, Birmingham.
One sister and one brother are deceased.
