Catherine Elizabeth JOHNSON

Catherine Elizabeth JOHNSON, 77, 205 W. Briggs Ave,, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1995, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Royer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is open at the funeral home until 8 tonight. A memorial has been established to Jefferson County Hospice.

Mrs. JOHNSON was born April 3, 1918, in Fairfield. the daughter of Claude and Rebecca MERCER BROWN. She graduated fro Fairfield High School and from Cosmetology College in Davenport. On Nov. 27, 1937 she married Darrell JOHNSON in Kahoka, Mo. He was missing in action in World War II. A lifelong resident of Fairfield, she was employed at Benner (Giant) Food Store before her retirement. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 96 and American Association of Retired Persons.

Surviving are a son, Richard W. of Little Rock, Ark,; two nieces whom she raised, Jill ROBERTS of Centerville, Jo Dee COTTRELL of Agency; four grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes SANGER of Lake Isabella, Calif., and Ruth WITTHOFF of Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Charlie, Clifford, Harold, Richard and Billy; and six sisters, Jessie, Eulalia, Baunita, Agnes, Harriett and Rosenna.
