Mrs. C. M. BROWN Dies At Home

Mrs. Claude M. BROWN, resident of Fairfield for nearly half a century, passed away about 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at her home, 204 E. Monroe. She had been seriously ill for the past three months.

The body is at Raymond Funeral Home where last rites are pending.

Rebecca Ann BROWN, 71, was born June 24, 1887, in Henry county, Iowa, the daughter of the late Simon and Jane HENTHORNE MESSER. She was reared and educated in the Rome community.

She was united in marriage to Claude M. BROWN at Mt. Pleasant on April 8, 1903. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1955.

The family moved to Fairfield 46 years ago. Mrs. BROWN was a member of the Christian church and Hawkeye Rebekah Lodge No. 386. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, William and Richard a daughter, Mrs. Alice ADKINS; and a number of brothers and sisters.

She is survived by the following children; three sons, Charles BROWN, Kalona, Ill., Harold BROWN, Parkridge (sic - Park Ridge), Ill., and Clifford BROWN, Pella, Iowa; six daughters, Mrs. Agnes PLANTS, Inglewood, Calif., Mrs. Ruth WITTHOFT, Davenport; Mrs. Baunita REEVES, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Mrs. Jessie ERNST, Ottumwa, Mrs. Eulalia SALVANO, Saratoga, Calif. and Mrs. Catherine JOHNSON, Fairfield.

Mrs. BROWN is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ida SEVALES, Mt Pleasant, and Mrs. Zee BASTON, Worland, Wyo.; and four brothers, Harrison MESSER, Ray MESSER, Hiram MESSER and George MESSER all of Rome, Iowa.

Saturday Rites For Mrs. BROWN

Last rites for Mrs. Claude M. BROWN, 71, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral home.

Mrs. BROWN, a resident of Fairfield for 46 years, died Tuesday at her home at 204 E. Monroe St. after a serious illness of three months.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Donald A. Eagle. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Rebekahs To Attend Rites For Mrs. BROWN

All Rebekahs are to meet Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at the Raymond funeral home to attend services for Mrs. Claude BROWN.

The services will be held at 10 o'clock at the funeral home.
