Page 8, Column 3SAM BOUGHNER DIES SUDDENLY
Sam BOUGHNER, former resident of Fairfield, passed away suddenly late yesterday afternoon at his home in Pleasant Plain. He had been ill for the past two or three weeks but he turned suddenly worse Sunday afternoon and died suddenly about 5:30 p.m.
BOUGHNER, retired Fairfield business man, had spent practically all of his life in Fairfield until he moved to Pleasant Plain about six months ago. Before moving, the family home was at 405 W. Hempstead street.
BOUGHNER, 69, had been a tinner, heating engineer and plumber for several years and for many years operated his own place of business here until his retirement in December, 1951. He began working in local plumbing and heating firms when he was only 17 years of age.
Last rites will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with the Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.
Sam BOUGHNER was born Feb. 6, 1883, in Henry county, Iowa, the son of the late George W. and Joanna HALL BOUGHNER. He was united in marriage on Feb. 26, 1906 to Nellie M. FLIGG who survives. The wedding took place in Fairfield.
Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: George BOUGHNER, Mrs. Kenneth HOOTMAN, Sylvan BOUGHNER, William BOUGHNER, Charles BOUGHNER and Paul BOUGHNER, all of Fairfield; and David BOUGHNER of Stillwater, Minn., who is serving in the U.S. air force (sic). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
