Richard SHANSTROM, 68, dies

LIBERTYVILLE --- Richard R. SHANSTROM, 68, died today at 12:10 a.m. at Jefferson County Hospital following a six months' illness with cancer.

The service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville with the Rev. John Wilken and the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Interment will be in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.

Friends may call at their convenience at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Jefferson County Public Nursing Service.

The son of Jacob and Rachel RICHARDS SHANSTROM, he was born Sept. 23, 1913 in Jefferson County. On March 4, 1940, he married Mary CRAWFORD in Des Moines. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Gary, Fort Madison, Gifford, Fairfield, and Gayle, Cedar Rapids and one daughter, Shirley DIAMOND, Libertyville, nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Madeline LANE, Fairfield and Florence SCHMIDT, Waukee.

He farmed and worked at J&B Plastics in Fairfield.
