Earl Dean McCABE, 71, of Milan, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at Shatto Cemetery, west of Milan.
Visitation will be 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Contributions are suggested to the Shatto Cemetery.
Mr. McCABE was born April 5, 1940, in Milan, the son of Charles Everett and Goldie Marie SCHOONOVER McCABE. He married Vera FRESHOUR. He married Doreen Ann FITZWATER April 5, 2008. She survives.
Mr. McCABE grew up in Milan. In 1958, he moved to the Fairfield area, where he worked for Iowa Malleable until 1985. He then moved to Idaho, where he worked as a maintenance man at a school. In 2002, he returned to Milan, where he worked as a general handyman and did maintenance for DaTah Apartments.
Mr. McCABE was a member of the Baptist church. He also was a member of the Milan Elks Lodge and was a past member of the Eagles Club.
He enjoyed making quilts, fishing, hunting, going to auctions, spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and traveling with his wife.
Survivors include his wife; two sons: Earl McCABE and wife Rochelle of Fairfield and Kenny McCABE and wife Bev of Junction City, Kan.; two daughters: Linda HUNT and husband Stacy of LaVergne, Tenn., and Jane MILLER and husband Jim of Wayland; three stepchildren, Rebecca McCABE of Green Castle, Mo., Shane McCABE of Milan, and Marty McCABE of Milan; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Mae LAWRENCE of Milan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters: Carol KIEFER and Debby McCONKEY; three brothers: Harold, Olen and Charley Ray McCABE; and one sister: Wonita McCABE.
