Willis L. (Bill) HILDEBRAND, 56, Wayland, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 1978, at 7:43 p.m. at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City.
He was born at Lockridge Nov, 22, 1921, the son of Otto H. and Velda ALLENDER HILDEBRAND.
Mr. HILDEBRAND served in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran church, Mt. Pleasant, VFW of Mt. Pleasant, American Legion Bain-Hulme Post No. 401, Wayland Lions Club, ISEA, NEA and the Wayland EA. He was a past commander of the Henry County Legion Post and former Wayland council member.
He was the industrial arts teacher at Waco school at the time of his death. He also had taught in Salem Hillsboro, Lockridge and Libertyville and had operated a furniture store in Wayland.
On Feb. 14, 1942, he married to Lois WAGGONER at Fairfield. She died in June 1945. He was then married to Vivian BARTON on Aug. 6, 1949, at Mt. Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife; his mother of Fairfield; two daughters. Mona HILDEBRAND, Des Moines, and Mrs. Ron (Judy) VAN NESS, LaGrange, Ohio; a son, Larry HILDEBRAND, Wayland; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Richard HISEL, Fairfield; and a brother, Everett HILDEBRAND, New London.
He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, Sylvia and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held from the Faith Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Alton Koch officiating on Wednesday, Oct 4 at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in Lockridge Cemetery.
Friends may call as they desire after 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland.
A memorial in memory as been established to the Faith Lutheran Church.
