Willard DROZ

Willard "Jack" DROZ, 71, of 202 N. Main St., Fairfield, died at 2:48 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 1992, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Born Nov. 26, 1920, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Lawrence and Phena Mae VILES DROZ. He married Ethel Aletha WAGGONER Feb. 28, 1943, in Kahoka, Mo. She died Dec. 6, 1961.

He was a self-employed farmer and trucker and had also worked for the city street maintenance department of Fairfield for 17 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church and the Keep Young Club.

Survivors include two sons, Richard DROZ of Mount Pleasant, and Robert DROZ of Fairfield; six daughters, Gloria DROZ of Portland, Ore., Marie GRIFFIN, Kathy GARRISON, Sue PEEBLER, and Patty Jo INGLE, all of Fairfield, and Linda ENGLISH of Mount Pleasant; three brothers, Perry DROZ of Fairfield, Clifford DROZ of Bloomfield, and Marshall DROZ of Drakesville; three sisters, Mary MITCHELL and Louise WHITE, both of Ottumwa, and Velma COLEMAN of Birmingham; one stepsister, Mary Belle BRADLEY; and nine grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The funeral for Mr. DROZ will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Revs. George Koch and Charles Kaufmann officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society and the Diabetes Association.
