ZENITH BLACK

Fairfield -- Zenith "Grandma" BLACK, 98, of Fairfield, died at 7 a.m. May 30, 1999, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

She was born Oct. 5, 1900, in Stockport, Van Buren County to George Lincoln and Ines Belle FORD LYON. She married George W. BLACK June 14, 1917, in Keosauqua. He died July 25, 1967.

She had lived on Rt. 1 at the Black farm. She farmed with her husband and was a homemaker for 50 years. She had lived with her granddaughter Barbara since 1979, and moved to Parkview Care Center in January, 1997. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Fairfield.

She is survived by a daughter, Frances Opal BLACK PRUNTY of Williford, Ark.; a son, Charles BLACK of National City, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three great-grandsons; two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Nina, Mabel, Helen, Lola Mae, and Stella; and three brothers, Harry, Sam, and a brother in infancy.

The service was at 1 p.m. Friday at the Free Methodist Church, the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Fairfield.

Memorials can be made to the Heart Fund, the Diabetes Foundation or to the Free Methodist Church.
