Walter MYERS Taken In Death

Walter A. MYERS, 80, died at 5:40 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital after being in failing health for some time.

Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Libertyville United Methodist Church in charge of Rev. Larry Gilmore. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. The body is at Raymond Funeral Home.

Walter A. MYERS was born Nov. 28, 1888, in Jefferson County near Abingdon. He was the son of Steven A. and Sarah LONGERBONE MYERS and was reared and educated in Jefferson County.

He was married to Kate STANFORD Feb. 3, 1909, in Fairfield. A retired farmer, the family home is at 604 W. Jefferson. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Liberty of which he was an honorary steward.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Orval Odas MYERS, Ottumwa, and Robert Dean MYERS, Fairfield; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie HERRIOTT, Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
