H. RODGERS Dies At 70

Harrie E. RODGERS, 70, a resident of Shenandoah and a native of Fairfield, died early today at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He had been in poor health for five years.

Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Shenandoah United Methodist Church. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery here. The Hackett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

RODGERS was born Dec. 5, 1903 in Fairfield, the son of John T. and Elizabeth RODGERS. A 1925 graduate of Parsons College, he served as school superintendent at Cotter for several years.

RODGERS was manager of the Shenandoah Spurgeon's Store from 1936 until his retirement in 1968.

Surviving are his wife, Blanche; two daughters, Mrs. James VINCENT, Des Moines, and Mrs. Russell ELSEY, Potosi, Mo.; four grandchildren and the following brothers and sister: Homer RODGERS, Birmingham; Burdette RODGERS and Mrs. Earl AUGUST, both of Fairfield; and Elmer RODGERS, Canton, Ill.

A memorial to the Iowa Lung Association has been established.

Note: Buried in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. 2nd.015. While the given name in the obituary (and obituaries of other relatives) is "Harrie" for the first name, the engraved inscription uses "Harry". His wife was Blanche BROWN RODGERS (1902-1990) and she is also buried in this plot.
