DEATH CLAIMS MRS. RODGERS

Death came early this morning to a long-time resident of the Fairfield community. She is Mrs. J.T. RODGERS who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl AUGUST, who resides east of the city.

Mrs. RODGERS, 84, had been in failing health for the past two years and seriously ill for nine weeks. She had made her home with her daughter since the death of her husband on October 20, 1948.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church with Dr. L.L. Weis in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will remain at the Hoskins funeral home until 1:30 p.m. Thursday at which time it will be taken to the church.

Elizabeth LYNN RODGERS was born October 10, 1865, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Elliott and Mary LYNN DAVIS. She was united in marriage on September 3, 1885, to J. T. RODGERS (sic. John Thomas RODGERS). The wedding took place in Fairfield.

Since her marriage, Mrs. RODGERS had spent her entire lifetime in Jefferson county. The couple lived on a farm north of the city until 1916 when they moved to Fairfield. She was a member of the Methodist church and the W.C.T.U.

Mrs. Rodgers is survived by the following children: Clarence, Mrs. Ethel BATES, Mrs. Edith AUGUST and Burdette, all of Fairfield; Homer, who resides near Birmingham; Elmer, Canton, Ill.; and Harrie (sic. a/k/a Harry), Shenandoah, Iowa.

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandson, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret RATCLIFF and Mrs. Ella BERRAY, both of Fairfield. Mrs. RODGERS was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ralph, who died in 1908, and six brothers.
