Edith G. OGDEN AUGUST

Edith G. OGDEN AUGUST, 95, a resident of the long-term care unit of Jefferson County Hospital since 1981, died there at 7:25 p.m. Friday, June 12, 1992.

The service was at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church and the hospital long-term care unit.

Mrs. AUGUST was born Oct. 26, 1896, north of Fairfield, the daughter of John Thomas and Elizabeth Linn (sic. Lynn) DAVIS RODGERS. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, she attended country school and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1915. She taught in country schools for a short time and was a substitute fourth-grade teacher at Lincoln School. She married Logan H. OGDEN on April 8, 1919, at her parents' home on South Main Street. The couple lived east of town. He died Dec. 1, 1944. On April 9, 1946, she married Earl G. AUGUST at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died Jan. 1, 1973. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Philathea Class, a member of Order of Eastern Star, Bethesda Friendship Club, Good Cheer Club and Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are four sons, Willard L. of Sepbastopal, Colo., Lyndon L. of Ashton, Ill., Robert L. of Fairfield, John F. of Novato, Calif.; two daughters, Lelah RAINS of Des Moines, Edythe J. GRABY of Fairfield; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Six brothers, Ralph, Clarence, Homer, Burdette, Elmer, Harry (sic. Harrie was given name) and one sister, Ethel BATES, preceded her in death.
