January 2, 1973Earl G. AUGUST, Retired Plumber, Dies Suddenly
Earl G. AUGUST, 78, Route 1, Fairfield, died suddenly about 8 a.m. Monday. He had been in poor health the past two years and seriously ill for several months.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Dean Berg officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The body is at the Raymond Funeral Home.
Earl G. AUGUST was born Sept. 17, 1894, in Jefferson County on a farm northeast of Fairfield. He was the son of Albert and Rosa SWEET AUGUST, and was reared and educated in Jefferson County.
His marriage to Gladys LEWIS took place May 20, 1914, at Ottumwa. She passed away in 1945. He was married to Edith RODGERS OGDEN (sic. previously Mrs. Logan H. OGDEN) April 19, 1946 in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
AUGUST was the senior plumber in the Fairfield Community having retired some time ago when his health failed him. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and attended Bethesda Methodist Church. He was a life member of B.P.O. Elks, F.O.E., Masons, Consistory, Kaaba Shrine Temple, Fairfield Shrine Club and O.E.S.
Earl AUGUST is survived by his widow; four stepsons, Willard OGDEN, Santa Rosa, Calif.; John F. OGDEN, Bodega Bay, Calif.; Lyndon L. OGDEN, Ashton, Ill.; Robert OGDEN, Fairfield, also two stepdaughters, Mrs. Leonard RAINS, Des Moines, and Mrs. Jack GRABY, Fairfield; nine step-grandchildren and two brothers, Clayton, Pasadena, Calif.; and Waldo, Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by two children, both in infancy, also one brother and two sisters.
