Pg. 3 Col. 3MRS. MATILDA AUGUST DIED LAST NIGHT
Mrs. Matilda AUGUST, a well known resident of this city, died last night at eight o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris JOHNSON, five miles east of the city, after an illness of three weeks, due to paralysis and old age.
Mrs. AUGUST was born April 12th, 1835, in Sweden. When seventeen years of age she came to America and came to Jefferson county where she has made her home ever since. On September 22nd, 1858, she was united in marriage to John August in this city. To this union were born four children who are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. Mr. AUGUST died January 28, 1900. The children are Mrs. Emma JOHNSON, Albert AUGUST, Mrs. Amelia LUNQUIST (sic. LUNDQUIST) and Mrs. Elizabeth KENZY, all of Fairfield. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Carrie PETERSON of Stanton, Ia., and Mrs. Clara JOHNSON, of Northwood, Iowa.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the English Lutheran church, of which she has been a faithful member, in charge of Rev. H.A. Anspach, and burial wil be in Evergreen cemetery.
